What the service covers

Fusion splicing joins two optical fibres by fusing them with an electric arc, producing a permanent joint with very low loss. It is the method used wherever signal quality matters — backbone links, live exchanges, data centres and rail or tunnel infrastructure — and it is the work Fiber Tech Solutions has done longest.

Testing and certification

A splice is only as good as the test that proves it. Fiber Tech Solutions owns and operates OTDRs and optical power meters for certification and fault-finding, and its technicians hold ITE Fibre Optic Installer certification along with manufacturer training including Anritsu OTDR operation.

At the StarHub data centre, OM3 cables were directly terminated and certified to TIA-568.3-D for 10G performance — the test result, not the installation alone, is what the client accepted.
